Child Safety Policy

Last updated: 19 April 2026

Our commitment

Hum considers the protection of children and adolescents from harmful online environments a fundamental responsibility. We enforce a zero-tolerance policy on sexual crimes against minors and on any actions that facilitate harm to children.

Age requirement

Hum is exclusively for users aged 18 and above. We collect date of birth during signup and verify user identity through phone-number OTP verification. Any user found to be under 18 will have their account immediately and permanently suspended, and all associated data will be deleted.

Zero-tolerance policy — prohibited acts

The following acts are strictly prohibited on Hum. Violations result in immediate permanent suspension and, where warranted, are reported to law enforcement.

  • Creating, sharing, or promoting child sexual exploitation material (CSAM).
  • Possessing or knowingly accessing CSAM.
  • Facilitating the creation or distribution of CSAM.
  • Providing obscene or exploitative content to minors.
  • Buying, selling, or brokering minors for any exploitative purpose.
  • Planning, discussing, or depicting sexual crimes against minors.
  • Grooming behaviour — building trust with a minor for the purpose of exploitation.
  • Sexual objectification of minors in any form.
  • Encouraging or facilitating any harm to children.

Consequences

Any violation of this policy will result in the immediate and permanent suspension of the account and loss of access to all Hum services. We proactively report confirmed or suspected violations to the relevant law-enforcement agencies, including the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and local police authorities. Where the conduct involves international elements, we also cooperate with the NCMEC CyberTipline and INHOPE network partners.

Reporting inside the app

We accept reports through the in-app “Report” feature 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Reports related to child safety are triaged with the highest priority. The anonymity of reporters is strictly protected — we do not reveal the identity of the reporter to the reported user.

Applicable Indian laws

This policy is designed to meet or exceed the requirements of the following Indian legislation:

  • Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012
  • Information Technology Act, 2000
  • IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021
  • Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023
